ANZ Learning Lab – An introduction to Systems Thinking; how it helps make sense of complexity
We often see situations unfold and ideas progress, and yet often constructive progress is hampered by a basic mental model of straight forward cause and effect. Yet things are rarely so simple; there are usually many interrelated parts in the systems, all affecting multiple other parts in a variety of ways.
With a large number of interdependent factors, such complicated or complex systems can appear confusing. By visualising the system we can develop an understanding of it, helping us to determine more effective approaches to working with it.
In this session, Alan will provide an introduction to Thinking Systemically concepts. He will share how the world’s systems can be simple, complicated or complex, with examples of scenarios along with tools and techniques. Participants will also be invited to collaboratively co-create visualisation of a system.
