POLITICAL POD – Coaching Politicians – what are we learning?
Recent meetings of this pod have highlighted the life and work of active politicians. Thanks to the concerted efforts of our organising team, we have had the privilege of meeting with Eveline Lemke in April, a previous Minister for Economic Affairs, Climate Protection, Energy and Regional Planning in Germany, and Georgia Taylor and Christina Coleman in May, newly elected Greens Party politicians who are currently having an impact in the local District Council of Wealdon.
These stimulating discussions have brought deeper insight into what drives them to take up such work, the influences they contend with and the internal forces that shape their decisions and actions.
In the June session we will leverage these insights to benefit our coaching. Diana and Katarzyna are creating space for coaches to learn together and build skills, knowledge, and confidence to work in the political arena.
To prepare we invite you to visit, or revisit, the Q and A’s of these sessions, available in the newsletter or upon registration. You can also watch the videos: April 11th Reconnecting sources, disciplines and professions – Eco-Informed-Coaching 4.0 and May 9th – Coaching in action workshop with UK Green Party politicians (available soon)
These frank and open discussions brought out many themes. One question of immediate relevance to coaches is:
- Where and how can coaching fit in a political work culture based on advocacy, alignments and quick decisions?
Join us to share take aways from the April and May conversations and use our wisdom to reflect, build understanding and explore effective skills for coaching politicians.
