Celtic Cultural Activism: Keening For Coaching in the Face of Ecological Grief
There is no escaping the grief we experience in the face of climate devastation. In a death-phobic Western culture, grief is something that needs to be relearned which takes practice.
In this workshop, we will bring our grief into sacredness, inspired by the Bean Chaointe, the Keening Woman, who guided communities through their grief.
This ancient practice can be used in a modern way to bring grief into sacredness, offering an opportunity for us to express our grief through voice, movement, and ritual addressing the overwhelm and despair felt through climate devastation.
This workshop will cover:
? A history of the keening tradition
? Examples of how keening can be used today
? Experience a keening ritual with music to help facilitate expressing your grief
? Honoring grief through ritual
? How to tap into Celtic wisdom & the power of liminal thresholds
Please bring a sheet of A4 paper of any color, a piece of fabric roughly the same size, a pen, and scissors.
