Earth Day celebration: Deep Time Walk at Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh, Scotland
To celebrate Earth Day, the Deep Time Walk Project is arranging a global wave of Deep Time Walks for that week.
In collaboration with the ‘coaching in and with nature’ pod, this powerful embodied experience takes participants on an 4.6km walk through 4.6 billion years of Earth history – exploring the place of the human in the more-than-human world.
Join us in a transformational journey bringing the rational and somatic together. It is an invitation to view the world differently, encouraging positive action and advocacy for a regenerative earth and helps put into context humanity’s rich heritage. This experience gives an insight into the interconnectedness of all life and a sense of timefulness through an immersive walk in nature
We are walking 4.6km in the Edinburgh Botanical Gardens in Scotland, where the diverse plants, trees and water features give their gifts and expression to understand Earth’s story. There will also be mindfulness and nature practices throughout the walk to connect deeply with nature and understand our relationship and appreciation for the long arc of deep time and the impact humans have had in such a short part of that time.
This walk is in collaboration with Drylaw walking group from Drylaw Community Centre in North Edinburgh, a community centre supporting local people through social, cultural, economic and environmental events and sessions.
The walk is free to join and all are welcome with routes that are physically accessible throughout!
We are meeting at 10am at the East gate in Inverleith Road. Please let Hazel know if you are joining so we don’t leave without you.
